Whuffaoke update

Whuffaoke kicks off in San Francisco

Whuffaoke kicks off in San Francisco

For everyone who wasn’t at Beer & Blog tonight, Whuffaoke’s stop #3 is Vegas, baby! The main event is Friday at Town Square from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.  The Winnebago will be parked somewhere around the Yardhouse.  Bring your requests and a sense of humor.  Stop by and say hello to the Whuffaoke team: Tara, Tony, Alex, Emma, Karen, and Ridley the Tweeting pug. Special thanks to Liza for running ground support for Whuffaoke!  Also, if you’re looking for some new threads, why not sport them Whuffaoke style? Get them through SpreadShirt.

And send good thoughts to the team… the Winnie had a rough go of desert traveling from San Francisco to LA today.  They made it, but will need lots of “I think I can!” thoughts to get over the mountains and into Vegas.

Whuffaoke or Bust

On July 17th & 18th, Tara @missrogue Hunt is bringing her Winnebago to Vegas for some karaoke fun.  Think Cash Cab except in an RV with singing… bound to be a ton of fun!  You can check out the Whuffaoke web page for more details, follow them on Twitter @whuffaoke, or check out the Facebook page for more information and events.    The official hashtag for the event is #WhuffaokeLAS.  I’ll post updates as the events unfold!

Special Event: Beer – Animal Style

Last week at the Monster Vegas Tweetup held at Diablo’s, I was introduced to Shelly O’Connor from Whole Foods. She mentioned an upcoming event called “Beer – Animal Style.” I think you’d agree that by name alone, that’s an event that our group will definitely want to attend!

So here’s the scoop.

Beer – Animal Style is beer tasting event where you pay five bucks and get to sample 40 beers. Your five bucks doesn’t stop working for you there, either. You’ll also receive a souvenir glass, there will be 3 restaurant demos and, of course, the Famous Whole Foods Market Sampling. Oh, and if that’s not enough, proceeds from the event will be going to the Lied Animal Shelter!

Here are the details:

Date: June 27th, 2009
Time: 2-5 PM
Location: Whole Foods Market inside Town Square
Cost: $5 (cash at the door)

I hope to see you all there!

I love the smell of Beer and Blog in the summer time!

If you haven’t noticed already, it’s starting to get warm out. That can only mean one thing; it’s time to hit up Beer & Blog to cool off with an ice cold beer!

Thursday, June 11th from 6-8pm, come join us at Bar Louie inside Town Square for Beer & Blog.

Don’t forget that Bar Louie’s happy hour is from 5-7. Get there early to take advantage of their cheap drinks ($3 draft beers) and great food specials.

As usual, if you plan on attending, please let us know by leaving a comment or sending a direct message on Twitter to @beernblogvegas, @rally666, @vegasgeek or @sara_mooney. One of us will be happy to add you to the RSVP list below!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Who’s gonna be there?

Almost Beer o’clock!

It’s June and another month week WordCamp beer festival has passed.  For those of you who didn’t go to Lee’s Beer experience, we’ll be gathering at Bar Louie to raise a pint and hear about the awesome (and horrible) beers from the lucky attendees.  And if we’re lucky we’ll also hear all about WordCamp San Francisco from @VegasGeek and @ToddHuish. Summer is here, and many people will be taking vacation.  If you’re traveling, take a look at the links to some of the other Beer & Blog chapters and pay them a visit.  Even though summer numbers tend to dwindle, we still had 4-5 new people stop in to say hello last week.

Also coming up this week is the Monster Vegas Tweetup organized by @unmarketing.  It takes place on Saturday from 7-9 at Diablo’s in the Monte Carlo.  Make sure to follow @unmarketing to find out the events of the night.

See ya Thursday!

Lee’s Beer Experience tomorrow, Saturday, May 30

Beer & Bloggers are invited to meet up at Lee’s Beer Experience tomorrow, Saturday, May 30, 1-5pm at the Las Vegas Hilton.  Tickets are $40 if bought in advance (at Lee’s Discount Liquor) or $50 at the door (proceeds go to charity).  21+ only.  Sample hundreds of different beers from breweries from around the US and the world!

More information:

Neal and I attended last year and it was great, and very much worth the ticket price.  Who would like to go this year?

May 28th Beer N Blog

Back at Bar Louie for another week, I think you all know the routine by now. Please leave a comment or DM @sara_mooney, @rally666 or @beernblogvegas, with your RSVP, or just show up. @vegasgeek is out of town at another Word Camp (*cough*wordcampwhore*cough*), so please do not DM him. Just a couple things of note for this week, @libationblog is interested in doing another taping soon, this may or may not occur on a normal #BNBLV evening. You are welcome to chime in on your interest for that event. The last taping was a blast, and included free samples, just ask @pokervixen, @toddhuish and @408down about those.

The other thing I wanted to mention was, as we have been embracing the food at Bar Louie, I believe they will have their new menu in place for the first time tomorrow night. So guienna pig away off the new menu, I have no idea what it entails, just that it was scheduled for the 28th. Tweet away folks, and please don’t throw anyone in the Bare pool tonight.

May 21st, Bar Louie for some Beer’n Blog

Thursday night from 6-8PM we’ll be taking over Bar Louie once again for Beer and Blog! Our turnout lately has been really decent and hope to keep that trend! On top of the normal emphasis on the beer aspect, we’ve had several blog and social media related discussions. Crazy, I know!

If you plan on attending, go ahead and send an RSVP tweet to @vegasgeek, @sara_mooney or @rally666 and we’ll get you added to the “Who’s Attending” list below!

Before we get to the attendees, a little bit of BnB Business to conduct. Recently the nice folks who run our parent site, beerandblog.com, upgraded the system to use BuddyPress. In short, BuddyPress is “Facebook in a box”. It’s basically a way to create your own little social network. As an attendee of our weekly BNB events, we’d like to invite you to have your own account on the BNB site. It will be an easy way to communicate with other BNB attendees in a less public forum than our beloved Twitter. There is but one drawback. There is no online signup available. To signup, please see me at the event tomorrow to fill out the pertinent information. I’ll then create your account for you. You can check out my profile here.

See you all Thursday night!

My Vegas Scene is running a contest to win a pair of CineVegas passes. Visit their web site to enter and for the rules.  If you’re not interested in the passes, hit the website to vote for a winner once every 24 hours.

Interop is in town from the 17th to the 21st.  All the events and expo happens at the Mandalay Bay Conference Center.  There’s the possibility of a Tweetup with some of their attendees on Tuesday night around 8:30 p.m.  Sara is working on finalizing the details, so watch your twitter timeline for a tweet from Beer & Blog Vegas with the official place and time.

It’s official, we’ve moved!

The votes are in, the community has spoken. Bar Louie is the winner!

I just got off the phone with the general manager from Bar Louie. We discussed the outstanding issue having to do with putting everybody on one check. He confirmed with me that it would be no problem to separate the checks out so nobody gets stuck with the bill at the end of the night.

I plan on getting there a little early this week to make sure we get seated at some tables either by the front door or back door so we aren’t crowded in right by the bar.

So, who’s coming this week? Go ahead and leave a comment here letting us know if you’ll be making it. Or, send a direct message to @sara_mooney, @rally666 or @vegasgeek and we’ll add you to the list!

See you there!
